A carjacking suspect who was barricaded in a home was arrested June 3 after a scene that lasted about 12 hours in northwest Englewood.

The man was arrested at about 4 p.m. after officers forced their way into the residence, said Chad Read, spokesman for the Englewood Police Department. The suspect sustained minor injuries and was treated by Denver Health Medical Center, and the suspect and officers did not fire any shots at each other, Read said. Police did not confirm if he was armed.

No officers were injured at the scene, Read said. The man was alone in the home when arrested.

Police responded to the area of West Baltic Place and South Vallejo Street at about 3:30 a.m. at the request of the Denver Police Department, a release from Englewood police said. According to Denver police, a carjacking occurred in the 2500 block of Welton Street, in the area of downtown Denver, at about 11:30 p.m. June 2.

The car was located at a residence in the 2100 block of West Baltic Place, in the far northwest corner of Englewood near southwest Denver.

Englewood police made contact with the 23-year-old suspect, who was in a single-family house and would not come out, the release said. The man had one felony warrant for a first-degree criminal trespass and another felony warrant out of the Colorado Department of Corrections, Read said.

The immediate area was evacuated. West Baltic Place was closed roughly between South Tejon and Zuni streets.
