A 54-year-old man appeared to be looking in a trash receptacle at the time of his death, according to Englewood police.
The man was found dead with part of his body in a trash can along South Broadway between Englewood Parkway and Floyd Avenue, said Scot Allen, spokesman for Englewood police. Police received a call about the man at approximately 7:15 p.m. May 28, and an officer out on another call saw the man at about the same time, Allen said. The officer checked on him and saw he was dead.
The man was John Franklin Keller, according to the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office. His last known city of residence was not known as of May 30, said Lisa Avendano, administrator for the office. His cause of death was also not known at that point, but no trauma or injury were involved, Avendano said.
Police can't say if he was transient, but it is possible, Allen said. Police said they are not looking for any suspects in the death and do not suspect foul play.
Note: The Englewood Police Department initially said it received a call about the man at about 5:15 p.m. May 28. The department has corrected that time.
