Golf tournament benefits the Denver Santa Claus Shop

Organizers with the Denver Santa Claus Shop recently announced that its annual Charity Golf Tournament is returning this year.

The Denver Santa Claus Shop Charity Golf Tournament takes place on Aug. 30 at the Fox Hollow Golf Course, 13410 Morrison Road in Lakewood. The shotgun start is at 8:30 a.m.

Cost is $200 per individual player or $750 per foursome. The price includes breakfast, cart, range balls, prizes, lunch and the opportunity to participate in a silent auction. Sponsorships are available starting at $300.

The golf tournament benefits the Denver Santa Claus Shop, which is a volunteer-run nonprofit that offers Denver families in need the opportunity to shop, at no cost, for holiday gifts for their children — newborn to age 11 — in a temporary store located in Denver. In its more than 90-year history, the Denver Santa Claus Shop has provided toys to more than 1 million children.

Last year, the Denver Santa Claus Shop put on a drive-thru toy giveaway in lieu of its in-person shopping experience, and served about 13,000 children.

“We’re super-excited to hold the golf tourney again — it was COVID-cancelled last year,” said Scott Hamburg, president of Denver Santa Claus Shop’s board of directors. “But we’re even more excited to have our normal, in-person toy giveaway again in December. Our volunteers are looking forward to interacting with shoppers again, helping them pick the perfect toys for their kids.”
