Rocky Mountain Storytelling Presents A Weekend of Storytelling Featuring Renowned Spoken Word Artist Donna Washington

The concert, conference, and story slam, hosted in Golden on April 24 & 25, will feature workshops and performances by internationally-known storytellers

DENVER – Rocky Mountain Storytelling (RMS), a volunteer-led non-profit organization of storytellers, story listeners, and story lovers will once again host their annual Story Seeds Conference and Concert. The storytelling weekend (April 24 & 25 at the American Mountaineering Center at 710 10th Street in Golden, Colorado) will feature three separate events: a conference, public concert, and story slam.

Rocky Mountain Storytelling President and Board Member Kate Lutz says, “We are delighted to once again bring this weekend of learning and fun to the community. This event is the perfect way to enjoy performances, develop your own talent, and inspire a new generation of storytellers and story listeners.”

The public concert, “Friday Evening Stories in Concert” begins at 7:00 p.m. and features Donna Washington, an internationally known, multiple award winning storyteller, spoken word recording artist, and author. The concert is open to the public and targeted to an adult audience (children over age 10 are welcome). Tickets to the concert are $15 each or $55 for families of 4+.

The “Story Seeds Conference” will take place Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and features a keynote presentation with Donna Washington, workshops with Lani Peterson, Cooper Braun, and Jeff Gere as well as performances by Yvonne Healy, Kate Lutz, Kathy Santopietro Weddel, Larry Holgerson, Karla Huntsman, Lani Petereson, Pam Faro, Evelyn McLane, and Sarah McNeil. The conference schedule of workshops can be found at The conference ticket price includes lunch and tickets to the Friday evening concert and Saturday Evening RMS Story Slam.

Following the conference is the Saturday Evening RMS Story Slam at 7:00 p.m., which will include personal and traditional tales on the theme of “luck.” Attendees are invited to bring their best five minute story and RMS will randomly draw storyteller names to perform without notes. A panel of judges will then determine the winner and award a prize. Tickets to the story slam are $15 each or $55 for families of 4+.

“The concert, conference and slam will be filled with stories that entertain, delight and make you think,” said Lutz. “Everyone loves a good story. If you love listening to stories or are just curious about a storytelling concert, come and enjoy the Friday evening concert and Saturday Slam. Want more?
